In Atlantic Auteurs II, local actor and filmmaker Cory Bowles brings us the short film Black Cop, as he finishes post production on his first feature of the same name. This tense and thought-provoking film is told through the unsettling perspective of a "police cam". Its urban setting is countered by two films shot on celluloid that take us deep into the natural world: The Wind The Way by Kira Daube that pairs rich super-8 footage with poetically elusive narration, and Folded River from Alex Balkam, a meditative journey down a still river shot gorgeously on 16mm. This diverse program also has a strong animation presence including exciting new works from HIFF regulars Tim Tracey and Jenna Marks.

The Peer-Jury that selected the films for 2017 is made up of local filmmakers and hiff alumni Ruby Boutilier, Jeff Wheaton, and David Stewart.
