We're thrilled to welcome two new members to the Halifax Independent Filmmakers Festival's Programming Committee for the 15th annual fest taking place this June.

Rebecca Falvey
Rebecca Falvey is a playwright, filmmaker, and cinephile from Halifax, NS. Her short films The Agnostics (made through AFCOOP’s 2019/2020 Film 5 Program) and Resignation Cove are currently in post-production. She co-wrote the short film Dorothy with Kevin Hartford in 2018, which screened at the Atlantic International Film Festival, Charlottetown Film Festival and Fringe! Queer Arts & Film Festival in London, UK. Her play The Crevice, developed through the Bus Stop Theatre Writers’ Circle, will debut as a live-streamed three-part sitcom pilot over March 5th, 12th and 19th from The Bus Stop Theatre, with funding from Arts Nova Scotia and Canada Council for the Arts. She is a co-founder of Phyllis Rising Productions, along with The Crevice's director/producer Meg Hubley, DOP Nicole Cecile Holland and AD Kat Shubaly.

Zhu Dinghui
Zhu Dinghui is an undergraduate student at Dalhousie University. Double majoring in Cinema and Media Studies and Social Anthropology, he has a huge interest in films and film culture. Particularly, he likes to watch films that, to some degree, provide new angles and narratives to the discussion of issues happening in real life. He's also a big fan of cult and experimental films. Currently, Dinghui is persuing his MA in Film Studies in Japan and working on his honours thesis on Jia Zhangke’s films.
