Rate of pay: $573/week based on 35hrs / week

The Halifax Independent Filmmakers Festival is looking for a Festival Assistant to join the team planning this year's festival, which takes place June 24th - 27th. HIFF 2021 will be a hybrid in-person/online event and the festival's 15th anniversary. This position is funded through the Job Creation Partnership Program and candidates must be eligible for that program in order to be considered.

The HIFF Festival Assistant will be responsible for assisting with the planning and implementation of the 15th annual Halifax Independent Filmmakers Festival, including helping with sponsorship, programming, print traffic and event and online logistics.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The candidate should possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. The candidate should have experience with and knowledge of social media platforms, website software (such as SquareSpace), bulk email client applications and basic office tools such as Word, Excel and Photoshop. A background and/or interest in the film industry will be viewed favourably but is not necessary. This a learning position and the successful applicant will work with support and supervision from other HIFF and AFCOOP staff and committees.

The Halifax Independent Filmmakers Festival (HIFF) is a 4-day festival dedicated to showcasing bold, innovative film and media art from the Atlantic region and around the world. HIFF takes place every year in June and includes screenings, installations, artist talks and other professional development opportunities.
