JOB COMPONENTS

Editing / File Preparation

Leading up to the festival the Technical Assistant will help compile a number of digital files for presentation and promotion. Pre-recorded Zoom Q&As will need to be edited for brevity and to include festival logos, titles, and sponsor reels. Every year the festival launches with a pre-recorded promo video including clips from the films and interviews with the festival programmers. The Technical Assistant will assist with the editing of this video in time for the festival launch night.

Print Traffic

Digital files collected from filmmakers for presentation at the festival will need to be tested for quality and completeness. Some files may need to be transcoded or compressed based on the online and in person screening playback platforms and the Technical Assistant will assist with this process.

Projection Work

During the in-person components of the festival, the Technical Assistant will help prepare and set up the live projection equipment including projectors, audio equipment, screens, and lighting. The Technical Assistant will run the projection software during the screenings and help with teardown following the screening.

QUALIFICATIONS

The candidate should have experience with and knowledge of digital editing platforms (Adobe Premiere Pro or similar); digital projectors for cinematic presentation; digital cinema screens; audio presentation equipment; and playback software (VLC or similar). The candidate should possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
